Foods that are High in Protein

List of foods high in protein

  • Milk
  • Low fat yogurt
  • Eggs
  • Nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Dried lentils
  • Lean meats such as turkey breast, fish, lean beef, chicken

These foods can be very healthy sources of nutrition for individuals diagnosed with diabetes because goods that are high in protein have very little effect on the amount of blood glucose present. These foods are known for being able to make a person feel full, faster and for longer.

Foods that are high in protein are also great sources of calcium and are high in phosphorous including chocolate and egg yolks.

One of my favorite and most concentrated forms of protein is tuna fish. A can of tuna fish can have up to 40 grams of protein. This can be extremely helpful for those that are trying to consume a gram or more per pound that they weigh for optimal protein intake and levels for building muscle. Another great source is cottage cheese. Earlier it was mentioned that dai
ry products, in general, are high in protein. Cottage cheese is no exception. As a matter of fact, cottage cheese has one of the highest levels of protein in dairy.

Why would you need foods that are high in protein?

Well, high protein foods are very important to anyone who is trying to gain or increase muscle. During intense training including weightlifting, your current muscles are torn and broken down. The only way to efficiently and effectively repair these muscles is through supplementing protein. This can be done by using foods that are high in protein to help restore protein levels. On tip on how to consume large amounts of protein when you do not feel like eating a chicken breast or bowl of cottage cheese, is to use a protein powder supplement. This can be anywhere from a 20 to 60 gram protein shake and it is a lot easier to drink and consume than eating a whole bunch of food after each weightlifting section.

It is recommended for everyone eat a lot of protein because usually foods that are high in protein are low in carbohydrates and fat and in turn can be very beneficial to someone trying to gain muscle and lose weight.
