Golden Moments




Good morning sunshine (I know, that sounds super cliché). Right now, you are waking up at 6:45AM. That is, if you are an early bird. But if this is your day off from work or school, I implore you to set your alarm clock at least ten minutes before sunrise.

When you are fully awake (and finished cursing me), take a glance out your window. Still dark outside? Give it a few minutes. Those gloomy blues will become an array of magentas, oranges, and golds. Now look eastward; the sun is slowly rising. It is the beginning of a new day, a fresh start to seek out successes in today's endeavors.

The sunlight is peering over clouds and chasing away shadows. Maybe your mind was clouded with stress or worry. Let those golden beams break through and clear away those problems. You will feel a lot better, trust me.

Take a five-minute shower. Wear some athletic attire; if you don't have it, just put on a pair of jeans and walking shoes. Do not watch television or make any breakfast (hear me out on this one). Go take a jog or walk around your neighborhood (as always, be mindful of your peaceful surroundings)
. Feel that warm light beaming down onto your skin. See the sky in a magnificent mural of warm colors. Within you is a renewal of knowledge and enlightenment.

Listen to the birds chirping amidst the trees and rooftops. Open your ears to their harmonious song. They are glorifying God for once again bringing forth another beautiful day. They are a feathered church choir sending praises to the high Heavens. Their tiny worship should lift that emotional weight off your shoulders.

Stop by a local coffee shop (it can be Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts for all I care), and order a freshly brewed beverage. Smell those baked goods intoxicating your lungs. Well then, order a muffin or bagel (damn the diet!). You can either sit at a booth or continue walking to the park. Observe the city coming alive with rejuvenation.

By this time, you should not feel dour or angry from yesterday. Morning is not for stomping and sighing and rolling eyes and pouting. Smile and beam like that bright giant star up in the sky. You emerge from that darkness into a renewed happiness, and your mind illuminates with liberation from gloom and melancholy. Now go out there and embark on the adventures of your life.
