How to Lose Weight, One Pound at a Time




Losing weight isn't something that you can do overnight. It's a long term goal, and the easiest way to accomplish it is to take it slow, one pound at a time. A single fatty pound is 3500 calories, which means that you lose a pound every time you burn off 3500 calories. While this fact could make you want to jump off the computer and start exercising right away, you should keep in mind that if you burn more than three pounds a week, you can damage your body by not giving it enough time to adjust.

Now, running at a light jog will burn around 350 calories per hour, so running ten hours a week will burn around a pound of fat. However, ten hours a week is slightly more than the average person can afford to spend exercising, so another exercise, like swimming, cycling, yoga or another type of aerobic exercise combined with running can make it mu
ch easier to lose weight. While the numbers vary, depending on how fast/how intense you're doing each exercise, you can expect to burn anywhere from 300-650 calories an hour.

Also a key element in losing fatty pounds is to change your diet. While eating healthier foods like vegetables and fruits at every meal are ideal, they should already be part of your diet. Instead of adding foods to your diet in the hope that the extra healthy nutrients and vitamins will help you take the weight off. Instead, you should cut back on the size of the foods you are already eating, and replace fatty foods with healthy alternatives. Don't give up meat or carbs entirely though, instead replace the unhealthier versions, like a hamburger, with something like toast and back bacon, because back bacon has no grease and very little fat. Making choices like this are crucial to successfully losing weight, one pound at a time.
