Having a few basic ideas about self defense can go a long way. When you are out with friends or just by yourself, knowing what is around you at all times are key. This article is here to help you with that. With three easy to follow steps you become a stronger person with the knowledge of what to do

Self Defense: Being Aware of Your Surroundings!
Here is something I bet a lot of people don't realize. Most muggings, rapes, murders, and robberies could have been avoided if the victim had paid attention to their surroundings. If you are ever out and about and you find yourself in a precarious situation make sure you are fully aware of your surroundings.

Below I have listed three things you should pay attention to at all times. These tips are very simple to do and after practicing a few times you will find yourself practicing them without even thinking. These tips are something you can do at any time of day whether morning or night. You can do these while with a group of people or by yourself. You can use them while running, jogging, working or sitting. My point here is that these tips are universal and can be used at any time.

So if you can, print this out and follow it to the ¡°T. You never know when it might save yours or someone else's life. NOTE: My goal here is not to make you worry or be afraid of going outside or being by yourself. My sole purpose of this article is to help people become more aware of their surroundings so they have a better chance of not becoming a victim to cowering criminals.

The more you know about these types of situations the better. 1.) The first one we have here is to always look for exits. This is especially useful when going into a restaurant or department store. When you walk in be aware of all the exits you can find just in case you need them. This is important because you never know what is going to happen. If you know where you are and where to go in case of an emergency you have won half the battle. 2.) The second one is making sure you take a mental snap shot of everyone while out and about. While walking into a store or walking to your car make sure you take a real quick glance at everyone you can. Authorities rely on people like you and me to identify criminals in all sorts of everyday situations. If you are walking and see a purse snatching, the authorities are going to rely on you to be a possible witness. If you can't remember what this person looked like then they have a chance of getting away. We don't want this. I know this is over simplified but just think of all the crimes and robberies that relied on key witnesses to put the bad guys behind bars? You can do the same if you just pay attention. 3.) Finally we have my favorite tip. I know this might not be related to your outward surroundings but it is still useful none-the-less. When you're out be aware of what weapons you might have available to you. If you have pepper spray, with you then make sure you have it handy. You can also check to see if you have any sharp objects that might be used in case of an altercation, keys work really well.

Following these three tips can save your life not to mention help someone else's. Be careful and be aware of what you are doing and who is around you at all times. We wish you the best and hope for nothing but safety in your life.
