During a recess, the students are having their snack. Arnold has fries and soft drink. Mica has boiled banana and carrot juice. Mary has ice cream and cotton candy, while Aida has egg sandwich and milk. Among these students, who do you think shows a good food habits which will maintain their sense organ's functions?
Good eating habits can affect the function of your sense organs. As we learn about the world around us with our sense organ, we should take care of our senses so they can work properly.
EYES. With our eyes, we learn about the color, shape and size of things. Eating yellow vegetables and fruits such as carrots and squash will keep our eyes clear and bright. Rest your eyes by looking at green plants or far out of the windows. Avoid reading while you are in a lying position or inside a moving vehicle. Read under a good light. Keep sharp objects away from your eyes. And protect them from too much sunlight by wearing sunglass with ultraviolet protection.
EARS. With our ears, we learn about sounds around us. Taking care of them includes cleaning of your ears regularly. For children, be sure that parents are the one who cleans them. When taking a bath or taking a swimming on the beach, do not let water get into your ears. When there are loud sounds, cover your ears. Do not put any small objects inside your ears. When one has cold, do not blow your nose very hard to avoid
damaging your ears. Keep pointed objects away from your ears and visit a doctor regularly when you have an ear problem.
NOSE. With our nose, we learn about the smell of things. Taking care of them includes covering your nose when there is a dust or smoke around. When cleaning your nose, use soft clean cloth or tissue. When smelling objects, avoid putting your nose too close to the objects you smell.
TONGUE. With our tongue, we learn about the taste of food. Taking care of our tongue includes avoiding eating too much salty and spicy food. Eating foods that still too hot is also a bad idea. When brushing your teeth. Gently bush your tongue gently and always be careful when chewing your food so that you will not bite your tongue.
SKIN. With our skin, we learn about texture, temperature and pain. Taking care of our skin includes eating fruits and vegetables to keep our skin healthy. Wash our hands as often as needed. Use an umbrella to protect your skin from too much sunlight or use sun blocks before going for a swim on the beach. When you have a cut or wound on your skin, wash then carefully to avoid infections. If you put lotion on your skin, be sure that if is safe to do so. And if you have a skin disease, see a doctor for treatment.
Each sense organ is as important as the others, and we should take care of them so they can work properly and enjoy the world around us. We take care of them by keeping them clean, by keeping them from harm and by eating the right food.
