Did you know friendly competition can be a great motivator?
This year the love of my life and I have decided to make a decree and accept a small monetary challenge that would benefit us both. We undertook a friendly wager in order to promote healthy fitness. The word diet is not a part of our vocabulary but active continuous workouts and habitual quest for knowledge is. This year we chose to work together while accepting many challenges to encourage one another in completion of every task we take on.
The challenge:
We took an oath to workout at least ten-minutes per day on our brand new elliptical machine which has been collecting dust for approximately one year. The other must witness him or her using the fitness machine each day for at least ten-minutes. If you skip a day, that will amount to ten-dollars being added to the house fund. Each month we will reevaluate the amount of time we spend working out on the elliptical machine. Gradually we will add more minutes by means of weight lifting and walking to propel our metabolism. This friendly wager has so far encouraged each individual to stay on the right track while committing to daily exercise. This has been a great motivator.
How will this benefit us as a team?
In more ways than one this fitness regimen will benefit us.
· First, this constructive challenge serves as a way where we can spend quality time together while monitoring one anothers training and progress.
· Second, we will actively encourage one another to continually stay strong.
· Third, we both will be working off useless, pounds, ounces and waste material.
· Next, if we do fall short and not work out one day, the money will go into our household fund for something useful like things needed to redecorate our
home, paint, furniture and gadgets etc.
· Lastly, we will show one another that we can accomplish anything together as a team by staying committed by the use of willpower.
So what are you waiting for come join us.
Commit to daily exercise! No it's not easy. I will be the first to tell you I have tried numerous times to conquer the battle of the bulge, to no avail. I use to try to shed those pounds with weight loss pills, gym-memberships I never used, no frill diet programs and I've purchased countless infomercial fitness- products to help me become slim and trim with little success. This has been a way of life for me for about ten-years, a revolving door of gizmos leading to no change in my body image and wasteful spending. So now I'm finally tired of the cycle of diet killers and trying something new (beginning with inward change).
Change begins with a decision to change inwardly then instituting such change gradually.
This time I have help from a friend who shares my same desire to live a healthy, happy and productive life while aging gracefully.
In conclusion:
· Make a decision today not to diet anymore, but to introduce a life-style change regarding healthy living.
· I challenge you to challenge yourself to, by any means necessary, encourage weight loss if you need it.
· Discover fun ways to set off your daily workout regiment. Try dancing, boxing, or even jumping rope to your favorite music for just a few minutes per day. Or you can do like me and watch your favorite comedy show while shedding those pounds.
· Ask for help from someone you know who has fitness flowing through their veins. We all need support sometimes.
· Please don't let another year slip by without you really taking good care of yourself and taking a serious attitude toward fitness.
Make this the year you keep at least one of your New Years resolutions!
