This article will talk about hoe the game is played to some of the greates player in the game.It will also break down the steps in becoming a great batter.
The World Of Baseball
There are many great sports out there. Some people like football, others like basketball and so on. Well this is baseball.In baseball there are nine positions.There are three outfielders, a right fielder a left fielder and a center fielder.Their jobs are to back up the infield and to field any thing that goes over their heads or past them.Then there is the infield.In the infield there are six spots.There is a first baseman,secondbaseman,third baseman,short stop,a pitcher and a catcher.The infielders get ground balls and catch pop-flys and linedrives to get outs.If the get a ball hit to them,they ground the ball and throw it to the bag to get an out.There are three outs in baseball.To get an out first the pitcher must throw strikes.It takes three strikes to get one out.A strike is any thing from the batters elbows to their knees.Anything out of that zone is a ball,if the pitcher throws four balls,the batter gets to go to firstbase on a walk.
Hitting is a whole nother world.While batting you can strike out,get a single,dubble,triple,home run or get walked.The best thing in batting is a homerun.A homerun is were the baseball is hit over the outfied into the stands.On a team all nine players bat.The first batter is the lead off man.His job is to make contact and get on base.Your second and third batters are to do the same.Your fourth batter is the power house.Its his job to get all the runners in to score.The line up restarts after that with the fifth batter.They are also useally some-what powerfull.Its the batters job to score points to win the game.All though hitting a home run is good,its not good to go up and try to hit one at every at bat.If you do this you will swing baddly and miss,causing an out.If you just make contact with the ball,it will go.
Now that you have learned hot to play,here are some techinuqes.While batting you should always hold the bat in a tight grip and also make sure that your knuckles are algined.If you got a fast pitcher move to the back of the batters box.If there is a slower pitcher then move to the front of the batters box.Another tip is when you are on defense fielding, and are hit a pop fly, always take one step back befor catching the ball.This will creat room and give you the space you need to make the play.Alway make sure you keep your glove down on a ground ball.If you dont ,it will result in missing the ball and creating an error.
There are many great players in the sport of baseball.One of the best batters known is Barry Bonds.Barry bonds of the San Francisco Giants is the all time home run king with 762 homeruns.Another great player is Lou Brock.Lou is known for his out field playing gift.His life time fielding percentage was .959.Lou was also an ok batter.His life time batting average was .293,hitting 149 homers,141 triples,486 triples,900 rbi's and 3,023 lifetime hits out of 10,332 lifetime at bats.
Baseball is a great sport.Baseball is a hard sport though.To play you must be committed to it and really practice at it.Baseball is maore a mental game than a physical game.You must know where to be at and where to make the play at all times.Once my coach told me that "once you think you cant go any farther,keep going and dont give up.That your body can always go 10% farther than you think it can." I took that in deeply and did what he said.Thats how i got to where i am today.Igot to play on a minor leauge baseball team for the Saint Louis Cardinals for 9 years.Tak my word,if you kepp practiceing and never give up, you will conqure the game of baseball.
